The Sun Warms My Body

My stomach growls for H2O.
I search for the perfect posture.
Barring down outside,
as the day creeps over the mountain.

I think of womanhood,
What it means to be,
And where we find ourselves
at this moment in time.

Grandmother, mother, sister, daughter
All together walking.
A path to freedom,
To equality,
To justice.
We fight to be heard.
To be respected.
For the future,
Where all will be represented.

The sun takes away the chill in my bones.
Melt away the pain with eyes closed,
And palms open.
